An update from facebook:
"Jacob
is doing good. He was given apnea medication because he forgets to
breath when he is sleeping but its all better. He can breathe on his own
without the machine (but we don't know for how long).. he moves a lot
so sometimes the thing goes down to his lips. Nurse took about 10
minutes to put it back because she said there was no urgency that the
monitors would show if he wasn't breathing (grrrr but the again that
made me happy because I did seem him breathe on his own.) He had a blood
transfusion yesterday. He likes being on his tummy now. He weighs 1090
grams and the nurse measured him and he is 36 1/2 cm. He is taking 2ml
per hour of breastmilk and tolerating it. A doctor that told us in the
beginning of all the problems that a 24 weekers can have came to talk to us and he said that Jacob has
gotten over the major hurdles. He looked really happy and congratulated
us once again. The next thing is his 1 month brain xray which the
previous had showed no hemmorage, let's pray that this one is good too.
The doctor said that usually if they would have had a problem it would
have showed in the first week of life. Now we need to get him off the
hhnc, hopefully he gets no infections and NEC, also his eye
examination, and start kangaroo care. I heard him cry again yesterday
when the nurse was doing the blood pressure. Sorry this is long!"
